SKOWHEGAN – It turned out to be a false alarm Wednesday morning in Skowhegan.
Police had to shut down a portion of Route 201 after a suspicious package was found at a nearby business.
The person who left the package is a former employee of the business who also left a voice mail that raised concerns. According to the Morning Sentinel, the caller said to open the box at 8:00 a.m. for a surprise.
The Maine State Police bomb squad was called in to check out the small box. Turns out it contained some road working equipment the employee was returning to his former employer.
