STATEWIDE – A fatal motorcycle accident over the weekend brought this year’s total to 11 deaths.
That number is one more than this time last year .
Maine State Police Spokesman Steve McCausland is seeing a mix of causes for these deaths and wide range of ages for the victims.
However he said this year is just about on par with other years. He stated “There is no central factor involved in these motor cycle crashes. Other than we are on par with last year, which was a rather average year for motorcycle deaths in Maine. And we are certainly not going to repeat 2015’s number where we had 31 motorcycles deaths that year.”
Motorcyclists are expected to be out for the next couple of month’s as the weather remains warm.
Maine State Police encourage drivers to keep an eye out for people on motorcycles, which can be hard to see out on the road.
