ORONO – Some local Boy Scouts were among those viewing the eclipse at the University of Maine in Orono.
By doing so they could earn a merit badge for the event, deciding it was a great opportunity, the local packs decided to all get together to share the experience.
They had plenty of viewing glasses, snacks and other items to enjoy the show.
Tinia Graham, den leader of Boy Scouts Pack 76, said “All you have to do is learn about the eclipse. Proper viewing with special glasses or filters and draw a model for a solar or lunar eclipse and they you get a patch.”
They also made a special cut-out that people could use to memorialize the event.
Lots of people had their photos taken to help them remember the historic event.
