MILLINOCKET – Everybody has a story and employees at the Millinocket Memorial Library want to hear yours.
For the past few months, they’ve been working on the “Katahdin Story Booth Project.”
The project aims to document people’s experiences as the town goes through a major transition so that generations to come can better understand the history of Katahdin Region. Library director Matt Delaney stated “Whenever you’re in a transition and preparing for an unknown future, and that is where we’re going. We don’t know exactly what the future will look like. I think it’s important to people to honor the past and think about where we came from.”
Delaney said the common themes he has picked up on from hearing people’s stories are optimism, hope, and positive energy.
The library has story kits available to check-out if you want to get involved.
The next steps of the project is to make the stories available to the public in a digital format.
