AUGUSTA – House Democrats have defeated an effort to roll back Maine’s minimum wage.
The Republican proposal called for scaling back future wage increases that were approved by Maine voters. It also called for delaying the implementation of future increases.
The Maine Democratic Party and the AFL-CIO of Maine are among those celebrating Thurday’s action.
The labor organization said the new higher wage is working by putting more money into the pockets of struggling workers who are then spending that money in their local communities.
