BANGOR – Playing music for a good cause.
The University of Maine’s Performance Band along with Orono High School and Old Town Middle School will be holding its inaugural “Concert for a Cause.”
The students approached the director of the band and said they want to do a concert that would mean something to the community.
They partnered with EMHS “Champion the Cure Challenge” to raise money for local cancer research.
Performer Smith Fenner stated “The fact that we’re doing something we’re using our musical gifts to help with something as noble as cancer research I find just outstanding.”
“I think the experience with just being able to share I guess the gift that we were all given when we were young with the next generation is really just touching.” added another performer Megan Carpenter.
The concert will take place on March 29th starting at 7 p.m. at the Collins Center of the Arts.
There is no ticket cost, but donations will be collected at the door.
