NATIONWIDE – If you are constantly burning the midnight oil at work you could be hurting your overall health.
A study in the “American Journal of Industrial Medicine” shows those who spend between 60 and 70 hours a week on the job have a much higher risk of developing coronary heart disease.
And another study in “The Lancet” medical journal finds employees who put in loads of overtime have a higher risk of stroke.
Putting in those long hours at work may not even make you more productive, because long work spans can actually decrease your efficiency.
Germany boasts the largest economy in Europe and the average worker there only spends a little more than 35 hours a week on the job.
Experts say while working less may not be an option, they state to become more productive include getting a good night’s sleep and following a task list each day to help you work more efficiently. At the end that may help you cut back on your work hours.
