PORTLAND (WGME) – In Portland the city’s plans with “Waterfront Concerts” may come to a halt.
In February, the city councilors in Portland unanimously approved the “Waterfront Concerts” series scheduled at the Maine State Pier this summer. Now some city councilors are having second thoughts after Alex Gray, the owner of “Waterfront Concerts” pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence assault against his now ex-girlfriend in October of 2017.
The victim posted a blog online calling out Portland leaders which sparked last night’s conversation.
If city councilors decide not to do business with Gray, it’s not clear if the concerts will still happen.
Mayor Ethan Strimling said the city hasn’t signed a contract but there’s been negotiating.
WGME reached out to Alex Gray for a comment but have not heard back.
