AUGUSTA-Maine health officials are among those warning about lettuce that’s making people sick in several states.
The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry say there have been reports of chopped romaine lettuce that have been contaminated with E. coli bacteria.
It has resulted in multiple illnesses and hospitalizations in a growing number of states.
There’s no specific brand, grower or supplier to help identify the lettuce.
Although we do know the lettuce in question was grown in the Yuma, Arizona region.
Health officials are urging all U.S. Consumers who bought chopped romaine lettuce to throw it away and not eat it.
And before you buy lettuce at a restaurant or store, you should confirm whether it came from the Yuma area.
If they don’t know, don’t buy it.
There have been no reports of the illness here in Maine.
