STATEWIDE – Gov. Paul LePage on Friday ordered United States and Maine flags to be flown at half-staff as a show of respect for Corporal Eugene Cole of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, who was killed in the line of duty last week in Norridgewock.
A funeral for the 13-year sheriff’s office veteran will be held Monday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
Thousands of people, including police officers from around the nation, are all expected to gather for the services.
Local residents can expect several streets in the area around the Cross Center to be blocked off Monday morning in advance of the funeral.
Governor Lepage said flags can return to full-staff on Tuesday.
