MACHIAS – Five men charged in connection with a shooting in Calais in December have been indicted by the Washington County grand jury.
Stephen Perkins, 27, of Baileyville and Marcos Luis Figuereo-Frias, 21, 26-year-old Elmer Frias, Jordan Rodriguez, 24, and Saul Figuereo, 20, all from Bronx, New York, each were charged Tuesday with aggravated attempted murder.
The shooting happened near the Calais Motor Inn in December. Police said that while they were dealing with Perkins, the four others fled the scene in a vehicle, leading police on a high-speed chase that lasted nearly 50 miles.
Police say the intended victim in the shooting escaped unharmed and that all five men also were charged with drug trafficking at the time of their arrest.
Brittany Wescott, 25, of Baileyville was arrested in connection with the same incident. Police said she lured the intended victim to the Calais Motor Inn. The grand jury also indicted her on aggravated attempted murder charges.
