FRANKLIN – A man from Cherryfield is facing drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop over Memorial Day weekend.
State police said a state trooper’s canine partner alerted to the presence of illegal drugs Sunday night when a vehicle was stopped in Franklin.
Joseph Strout, 45, was arrested after a search of the vehicle turned up more than 16 grams of crack cocaine and more than a gram of heroin.
Strout has been charged with trafficking in crack and possession of heroin.
A passenger in the vehicle, 45-year-old Clifford Seavey, was arrested on a warrant for unpaid fines.
