ROCKLAND – Schools in Rockland were placed in lockout mode Tuesday morning while police investigated a threat.
An individual from out of state called to report that a man may be plotting to shoot up a school after hearing voices in his head.
According to the superintendent of RSU 13 schools, Oceanside High School and two other school facilities were placed into lockout while police looked into the threat.
The lockout was lifted late Tuesday morning after police made contact with the man and seized several high-powered rifles from his home.
Villagesoup.com reported that the man was taken into protective custody and was brought to Pen Bay Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.
He will be charged with a crime if he’s deemed fit to be released from the medical center’s psychiatric department.
