STATEWIDE – It’s the time of year when many people are heading back into the countryside for recreation.
It is also when many wild animals are giving birth, which will increase your chances of stumbling upon a baby animal.
Game officials are urging people to leave them alone.
Even though the babies may appear to be abandoned, their mothers are probably not far away.
Wardens have released a special public appeal to help spread the message. They hope others will spread the message about the “If you care, leave them there” campaign.
State wildlife experts say that in many cases, removal of the baby animals can reduce their chance for survival or reintroduction back into the wild.
