ORONO – A motorist parked in a breakdown lane in Orono had a very close call on Wednesday morning.
The woman escaped a serious crash with minor injuries.
Maine State Police said that a dump truck hauling asphalt slammed into the rear of the parked vehicle around 8:30 a.m.
Fortunately, the truck just clipped the rear side of the woman’s SUV or the damage would have been more severe.
The dump truck was being held up by only the guardrails when it came to a stop. The Exit 191 southbound offramp had to be shut down temporarily so the dump truck could be removed.
The woman in the car was brought to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
