STATEWIDE – Maine residents will have another gubernatorial candidate to consider this November.
Alan Caron of Freeport has officially kicked off his campaign as an Independent candidate for the Blaine House.
Caron grew up in Waterville and comes from a family of mill-workers and farmers. He says he has spent years trying to find ways to improve Maine’s economy and asserts that he is the person who can help end the partisan bickering in Augusta.
“I think the voters in the fall are going to have a chance to send both parties a message that we’re tired of the gridlock, we’re tired of the food fights, the old feuds, so the way to fix this, I think is to elect an Independent who has a track record of working on the economy and bringing people together and that’s what I have to offer the people of Maine,” Caron said during a visit with voters at Mason’s Brewing Co. in Brewer.
Caron operates his own consulting firm and also is known for founding the nonprofit GrowSmart Maine, which has developed strategies for improving Maine’s economy.
In 2009, he also created Envision Maine, which works with nonprofits, businesses and others to also improve the economy.
