PALMYRA – Three Somerset County residents were arrested Tuesday, after the commander of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said a bust in Palmyra turned up about $12,000 dollars in illegal drugs.
According to Commander Darrell O. Crandall, Myles Cloutier of Hartland, 28, as well as Dustin McKenney, 27, and Lindsey Stenson, 23, both of Skowhegan, were charged with aggravated trafficking in fentanyl.
Authorities say following an investigation, during which agents reportedly observed the suspects involved in illegal drug activity, agents and state police stopped a vehicle with the three inside on Interstate 95.
Inside the vehicle, police said they found drug paraphernalia. They also reportedly found a loaded .32 caliber handgun on McKenney, who police say is not allowed to possess a firearm under previous bail conditions.
After executing a search warrant at a Palmyra hotel, where police said the suspects had set up a base for their “operations,” agents said they found more than 60 grams of what they believe to be fentanyl, two additional handguns and more than $8,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
Cloutier and McKenney were taken to the Somerset County Jail. Cloutier’s bail was set at $10,000. McKenney was not given bail. According to Crandall, a summons was issued to Stenson due to “health concerns.”
