BANGOR- Father Frank Murray of St.Paul the Apostle Parish is retiring after 39 years of active ministry.
Mid-day Sunday, hundreds of parishioners, friends, and colleagues all came out in dozens of cars for a r drive by parade to celebrate his retirement at St. Mary’s Church.
“It’s very humbling to see the support that people offer their priest, they’re just so genuine. It’s going to be a big change and so obviously with change there’s always a little be anxiety but it’s not too bad,” Murray said.
Even Senator Susan Collins released a public statement, saying “Father Frank Murray is a wonderful, compassionate priest who is the pastor of St. Paul the Apostle parish of which I am a member. His deep spirituality combines with his wry sense of humor to enable him to connect with his parishioners and bring us closer to God. I wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement but know we will see him saying mass even as he lays down the burden of administering so many churches and overseeing All Saints school.”.
