BURNHAM – Four people suffered minor injuries after a charter bus overturned Tuesday night on Interstate 95.
The crash took place around 11:30 p.m., when the driver, 65-year-old Charles Barry of Omaha, Nebraska, fell asleep behind the wheel, according to Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said.
The bus drifted off the highway and overturned, he said.
McCausland said three women and one man were injured. All were in their 20s and 30s.
They were taken to hospitals in Pittsfield and Waterville, while the 34 other passengers were put up in a motel.
The group was traveling from New York to attend a Christmas concert in Orono Wednesday night. The group ranged in age from 11 to 49.
Two wreckers were able to get the bus upright just after 2 a.m. Wednesday.
McCausland said Barry was cited by troopers for failing to maintain control of the bus.
