WEST BATH – A close call for a man and his 2 year old daughter today in West Bath.
They survived after the pickup in which they were traveling was struck by a passing freight train.
According to the Sagadahoc County Sheriffs’ department, they’re still not sure if 36 year-old Daniel Wallace stopped before crossing some tracks at the Sanford crossing road.
The front portion of the truck ended up hit by the Maine Eastern Railroad train.
The vehicle spun off to the side of the tracks.
The train’s engineer says he sounded the horn before the collision happened.
Neither Wallace nor his daughter suffered injuries.
He was issued a ticket for failure to obey a railroad warning device.
