CAMDEN – The town’s planning board is looking at a zoning change that would prevent fast food restaurants from opening downtown near the waterfront.
The town already bans drive-throughs.
Jeremy Martin, director of Camden’s Planning, Development and Code Office, said fast food businesses could still operate in a section of town near Hannaford Supermarket.
“The planning board and community as a whole, I believe, really want to keep the downtown core of Camden unique and keep its identity,” he said.
The planning board will hold a hearing on Jan. 31 and Camden residents will vote on the issue in June.
