BANGOR – Senator Susan Collins took to Twitter on Monday to weigh in on the impact of the ongoing government shutdown on Maine residents.
The Republican senator wrote on social media that she spoke to a waitress in Bangor, whose husband works for TSA.
The woman told Sen. Collins she had to get a loan to pay for her mortgage this month, something the senator says is “just wrong.”
Sen. Collins went on to say: “I continue to believe that a compromise is possible because this is a problem that we have to solve.”
Monday marks the 24th day of the partial government shutdown over border security.
It is now the longest shutdown in U.S. history.
