ELLSWORTH – The city received a $50,000 grant to extend the walkway at Harbor Park.
The grant awarded is from the Recreational Trail Program.
About five years ago, the city decommissioned its old wastewater treatment plant and landscaped it to turn it into a green area.
This extension of the walkway will loop the whole park back to the main road.
“It’s a wonderful asset to the city and we appreciate very much the state’s support to extend this walkway and better integrate our entire park area together,” City Manager David Cole said.
The park is a popular spot throughout the year and Cole said the trail improvements will only bring in more people.
