BANGOR – Darling’s Auto Group is raising money for cancer.
Recently, for every car sold, Darlings donated $100 dollars to a charity of the buyer’s choice. The promotion raised more than $5,000 for six different cancer charities.
This week, three of those charities — Sarah’s House, Champion the Cure Challenge and Cancer Support of Maine — received a combined $2,600.
“As a survivor myself, I know how important it is to have local dollars directed to your local cancer center, where they have the opportunity to make the greatest impact,” said Jennifer Lloyd, philanthropy officer for Northern Light Health Foundation.
Darling’s does the promotion every year.
“Cancer touches all of us, all of our employees, all of our customers in some fashion and it’s just something that makes perfect sense,” said Darling’s General Manager Otis Soohey.
