OLD TOWN – Police have released the name of the pedestrian who was killed Thursday evening when he was struck by a pickup with a plow on its front.
The pedestrian was identified as 24-year-old Dylan Cooper of Old Town. Cooper died at the scene, police said.
The accident happened just after 5:15 p.m. Cooper was crossing the intersection of Stillwater Avenue and Bennoch Road when he was struck by the pickup driven by Eric Gifford, 54, of Bradley.
Old Town Public Safety Director Scott Wilcox said Thursday night that visibility was “terrible” at the time but that the cause had not yet been determined.
Police said Gifford was trying to turn left on Stillwater Avenue at the time. People who live nearby say it is a dangerous intersection.
