STATEWIDE – With more snow in the forecast this week, postal workers need the public’s help.
One local postmaster said that postal customers can make a difference by keeping walkways cleared of snow and ice because postal carriers work in any kind of weather.
“The conditions change. The warming, the cooling. And what’s good one day and easy to walk on may not be the next day,” said Hampden Postmaster Matthew Gilreath.
“So it’s just important to go and check. If you’re expecting mail. If you’re expecting packages. Whether it’s for the mailman, the oil man, the newspaper boy it doesn’t matter. You should try to do everything you can to make sure that nobody’s getting hurt so they can get you your mail or your packages,” he said.
Postal officials said they can suspend delivery if walkways are covered in snow or ice.
