BREWER – In October, the Barbara Sosman Support Center officially opened its doors to patients at the Lafayette Family Cancer Center.
Paul Trommer founded the center in his wife’s memory to provide sanctuary for people dealing with cancer. It offers services and therapies to help patients who are struggling with the disease as well as a place to rest and relax.
“If you want someone to talk to, that’s fine. If you just want to have a cup of coffee and relax, that’s fine. Maybe you’ve got a couple of kids with you. We’ve got a playroom for the kids and materials for them. Maybe you just want to be quiet,” Trommer said.
Local artist Liam Reading recently painted a mural on one of the walls in the center.
Trommer said the center is always looking for volunteers. To get involved, visit the center’s website at sosmancenter.com or call 990-2025.
