BAR HARBOR – The College of the Atlantic once again is expanding its campus.
The college is preparing to transform its waterfront campus with a new state-of-the-art Center for Human Ecology.
The 29,000-square-foot center will feature science laboratories, flexible lecture halls, faculty offices, art and design studios plus a teaching greenhouse, according to a COA news release.
“This building will be built entirely through philanthropy. We’re not borrowing any money to build the building. We are pushing the boundaries of what it means to have an ecologically sustainable building. And it’s just really special thoughtful design,” COA President Darron Collins said.
If all goes to plan, construction will begin in May and the building will be completed in the fall of 2020.
