BANGOR – The Maine Science Festival is in need of volunteers, and it’s about a month and a half before the event kicks off.
The annual event will have more than seventy events and activities over five days starting March 13th.
Some science activities are geared toward for kids, while others are for all ages or 21+ .
Organizers said they need about thirty volunteers for checking in people and other behind-the-scenes work.
The festival draws scientists and STEM presenters from all over the state.
“We take a big, huge spotlight and shine it on all the cool stuff that’s happening in Maine,” said Kate Dickerson, the founder and director of the Maine Science Festival, “and we do it in ways that are very different than in schools. We do hands-on activities and workshops and talks.”
Those interested can sign up for a time slot on the festival’s website .
Volunteers just have to be of high school age and up.
