BURLINGTON – A Lowell woman is facing eight charges after three of her dogs escaped and allegedly killed one neighboring goat and mortally injured two others.
Their owner says two of the small Boer goats — Matilda and Annabelle — were pregnant.
He says three other goats survived.
“I thought it was coyotes out there when I first heard all the commotion,” said Mack Williamson, the Burlington goat owner. “I got my gun and my light and I went back out and there were three dogs killing my goats.”
Williamson says the largest dog charged at him with its teeth bared. He says he shot it and then he called 911.
Then, he said he killed the two smaller dogs when he found them eating the goat they killed.
The animal control officer said two other goats had severe injuries and had to be dispatched.
Tiana Deegan, 33, of Lowell was charged with three counts each of owning a dangerous dog and dogs running at large, and one count each of having an unlicensed dog, and having a dog without proof of rabies vaccination.
Her court date is in March.
