HARTLAND – An argument in Hartland ended with shots being fired and an arrest.
Police said they were called to Commercial Street about 5:40 p.m. Monday by a witness who told them he saw people get out of an SUV and confront the victim.
They said the witness told them that an argument ensued and one of the individuals started firing a weapon. Police said they found two spent shell casings at the scene.
After interviewing the victim, deputies identified 42-year-old Corey Eugene Swain as the shooter.
Authorities said they found Swain at his grandmother’s house and the gun at a different location in Hartland.
Swain told deputies that the victim saw him in the car and was upset over a relationship so the victim opened Swain’s vehicle door and started a physical altercation.
Swain told police he fired a round as he was getting out and another as a warning shot. No one was injured.
Swain was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court in March.
