ORONO – Graduation is months away but it was not too soon for some college students in Orono to begin looking for work.
University of Maine students connected with more than 170 employers at the university’s annual career fair on Wednesday. Businesses were looking for entry-level employees and summer interns.
Organizers said there was something for students in all grades.
“Mostly juniors and seniors but we do see more sophomores attending, as they are looking for those internships,” said UMaine Career Center Director Crisanne Blackie.
“We have many faculty that encourage students to attend their first year so that they can get an idea of what’s happening at the career fair and they get a little experience and know what to do next year,” she said.
UMaine’s career fair is dubbed the largest of its kind in the state.
Around 1,000 students were expected to attend.
