PORTLAND (WGME) – A group of Bowdoin College students are demanding that members of Maine’s congressional delegation support the Democrats’ Green New Deal.
The group’s stops on Wednesday included Sen. Susan Collins’ Portland office. The group wants Collins and Sen. Angus King to support the initiative, which is a combination of economic stimulus programs aimed at addressing income inequality and climate change.
The group also thanked Rep. Chellie Pingree for her support of the Green New Deal.
Collins’ spokesperson said the senator appreciates hearing from students and wrote, in part, “Senator Collins has long worked to address the significant environmental and economic challenges posed by climate change.”
