BELFAST- The Waldo County Emergency Management Agency holds training for fire departments throughout the year.
“We have them here, four or five times a year, to offer different training session and [Wednesday] night’s was “1st Due Without a Crew,'” Waldo County Fire Chiefs Association President Bill Gillespie said.
According to Gillespie, Waldo County holds non-mandatory training frequently.
He said Wednesday night’s training session was the third this week.
“We’re learning different techniques. Learning how to read the building before we put anyone in and commit resources,” he said.
Gillespie said there were 30 people representing at least 12 different departments at Wednesday’s session.
“It’s really trying to get the information out and get some departments that don’t normally work together to work together and hear the same story from the same instructor, so hopefully when we do work together, make the right decisions,” said Gillespie.
