BREWER – A skilled workforce has been building refinery modules at the Cianbro Constructors Module Manufacturing Facility in south Brewer.
A barge loaded with massive modules left Brewer on Thursday, heading down the Penobscot River. The sign on the fence at Cianbro indicates the modules are for Shell Pennsylvania Chemical.
“There are 60 modules, and there is 19 barge loads,” said Andi Vigue, president and CEO of Cianbro. “All 60 will be done by the end of the year. There will be 500 jobs in the yard related to the project.”
The Pittsfield-based employee-owned company has about 4,000 employees nationwide. Around 1,750 work in Maine.
