HAMPDEN – A local business and community expo helped raise money for RSU #22.
61 vendors turned out to Hampden Academy on Saturday for the third annual “Keep it Local” expo.
Their registration fees and support from sponsors go toward the RSU #22 Education Foundation, which helps educators by funding mini-grants for classroom learning projects.
Event organizers said the expo is also a good way to give local businesses some exposure.
“It’s truly a win, win because it features the local business, it encourages people to buy local, go to your local hardware store, go to your local guy that helps you fix your house, rather than taking the money outside,” said Peter Witt with the RSU #22 Education Foundation.
The foundation does accept monetary donations.
They said this was their biggest year yet, but next year they hope to fill the entire gymnasium with even more local vendors.
