BANGOR – A 28-year-old Hampden woman has been sentenced to five years probation after conspiring to commit marriage fraud.
Marena Mushero, 28, a u-s citizen, posted an online advertisement offering to marry someone in need of permanent resident status, according to court records.
In June of 2018, Mushero married a citizen of nepal in exchange for cash. The man was lawfully living in another state at the time.
The marriage allowed him to obtain his green card so that he could continue to work and live in the other state.
U.S. District Court Judge Lance Walker noted that Mushero is due to complete an eight-month state prison term next week for an unrelated offense.
