BELFAST – Waldo County now has a brand new courthouse.
A ribbon cutting Friday afternoon in Belfast marked the official opening of the Waldo Judicial Center on Market Street.
The event was attended by high-ranking justices and state lawmakers.
Officials said it was a collaborative effort among the county, the city, and the legislature.
The building has new technology, and will also help the public because unlike the old space, everything is in one building.
“If you have to be in court for something, it’s nerve-wracking, it can be very frightening at times, and to find out you’re in the wrong building at the wrong time is just not fair at all,” said Chief Justice Leigh Saufley from the Maine Supreme Court, who spoke at the event.
Justices welcome the public to come in and see the new space.
