BANGOR – Nicholas Anderson was one of the vendors at Bangor Comic and Toy Convention.
Anderson is on the autism spectrum and it has inspired the books he’s written, illustrated, and self-published.
The books are titled Planet Ripple.
He said they are about how people treat each other and focus on people with disabilities.
Anderson said he doesn’t like how autistic people are typically represented and wanted to create something more authentic.
“We focus so much on autism and kids and how to fix your child, it creates this weird impression that autistic adults don’t exist.” he said. “I just wanted to show what it’s like to live with that day in and day out your entire life.”
The Bangor Public Library is holding an author talk with Anderson on April 17th from 5:30-7:30.
You can learn more about him on his website.
