BANGOR – City councilors voted Monday night to table a proposed Styrofoam ban.
The ban specifically targets food packaging, such as that used for takeout.
Officials voted to table the matter since it would be a close decision and not all members were present.
“The state passed in both chambers a bill. We want to mirror what they’re doing and be in line with everyone,” Council Chairwoman Sarah Nichols said.
The issue is slated to go back before councilors on May 13.
