BANGOR – High school graduation is around the corner, and most grads have plans for what’s next. For those that don’t, Penobscot Job Corps might be just what you need.
Penobscot Job Corps will hold its annual open house this Thursday from 10 to 2.
Heather Lessner, Penobscot Job Corps Workforce Development Manager, says this is an opportunity to visit Bangor’s best kept secret.
Penobscot Job Corps is a free educational and training program that works with people from the age of 16 to 24.
Lessner says for the undecided graduate, their gap year program is a great way to learn a trade and earn some money while deciding where to go next.
Penobscot Job Corps also helps individuals without a high school diploma obtain theirs.
“While you’re working on that, we’re also going to teach you career technical training such as welding, CNA, CMA, facilities maintenance, culinary,” said Lessner. “All of these trainings have high job potential in the community.”
The public is welcome to Thursday’s open house.
A barbecue lunch will be provided as well as giveaways during the event.
