BANGOR – A James F. Doughty School teacher is looking for information about a “silent hero” before she delivers his eulogy in June
Kathryn Kennedy, who recently was nominated for the Hannah E. MacGregor Teacher of the Year Award for history, is taking part in a development program called “Memorializing the Fallen” through which she will tell the story of Pvt. James W. Williams.
Kennedy knows Williams was born in Bangor and lived in the area all his life.
According to records, Williams died sometime between July 17 and Aug. 6, 1918, while serving his country in World War I.
Kennedy would like to know more about his younger years before she eulogizes him at a cemetery in France next month.
Anyone with information about Pvt. Williams is asked to contact Kennedy through bangorschools.net.
