BANGOR – A little boy from Holden got a special surprise Thursday evening.
Three-year-old Calvin is battling a nervous system disorder.
At Thursday’s Walk for Wishes on the Bangor waterfront, officials with the Make-A-Wish Foundation announced Calvin would be receiving a new play set in his backyard.
Calvin is one of about 90 kids in Maine who will have their wishes granted this year, thanks to events like the walk that raise money for the foundation.
“It takes events like this in order to be able to fund raise all that money,” said Brenda Gammon, chair of the Bangor Walk for Wishes. “The money raised in Maine stays in Maine.”
More than 50 people crowded the waterfront for the event, which celebrated its 20th year Thursday.
Foundation officials plan to install Calvin’s playset this summer.
