BANGOR – A Bangor man will be spending at least 10 years in prison after he admitted to committing sex crimes against children.
Keith Bradford, 68, was arrested in July of last year and indicted in September on several counts of unlawful sexual contact with children under the age of 14.
A Penobscot County assistant district attorney said the crimes occurred when the victim was either 9 or 10 and lasted until she was 11.
On Friday, the victim addressed Bradford in court.
“The victim and her family had some time to consider what they wanted to say, that she had time, she became stronger as time went on, and she was able to articulate to the court exactly how this impacted her life and how she felt and recognized that she is going forward, she is much stronger and she will get through this,” said Assistant District Attorney Alice Clifford.
Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty to two of the charges for which he was sentenced Friday afternoon.
The judge gave Bradford two 10-year sentences, with the first 10 years guaranteed and the potential to serve the rest if he violates his probation.
Clifford says Bradford received the maximum sentence for the crime.
