STONINGTON – A young couple from Stonington hopes people will help reunite their family.
John Oliver and Ashley Spofford recently celebrated the birth of twin girls who were born prematurely.
It appeared their health had improved, but they had to be rushed to a hospital during a trip to New York and now the family is struggling to come up with money to have them transported back to Maine.
One of the parents has remained in New York with the babies and the other has returned to care for their other three children.
An angel flight will cost 20 thousand dollars and that’s just the beginning of their mounting medical expenses.
Once returned to Maine, the couple will also have to take daily trips from Stonington to Maine Medical Center which also cost a lot of money.
