Bangor- Spring is in the air, which means potholes are on the streets.
It’s not a new issue here in Maine, but it is an annoying one. They’re almost impossible to avoid, but if you hit them you can ruin your tires.
The damage to the roads from the winter is clear, but you don’t want to have to worry about fixing damage to your car as a result. Now that the weather is warm, teams are out making sure that you no longer have to worry about avoiding these obstacles.
“We’re filling in potholes from the winter, plow damage and whatnot. We go through quite a bit of patch during this time of year,” said Chat Scratton, an employee at Bangor Public Works.
In fact, nearly 300 tons of patch have been used this year in the Bangor area alone. That’s 150 truck fulls! And that’s not even enough to tackle the entire area.
“We can’t do the whole city, well we can but it’s an ongoing process. We got a good crew, good guys, and we do the best we can. We go out every day and we give it one hundred percent and we make it work,” Scratton said.
