Southwest Harbor – The annual exhibit of the Island’s rug hooking group, Hook ‘n I, will hang at the Southwest Harbor Public Library during the month of May.
Members of Hook ‘n I have created original designs and have also worked from traditional and current hooking patterns. The group meets during the winter months at the Southwest Harbor Public Library.
Rug hooking has long been a tradition in Maine. Years ago, rugs were hooked by local women both to produce articles for their homes and to sell for extra money. The Hook ‘n I members enjoy carrying on this tradition, creating beautiful rugs and mats.
