ACADIA – A new report shows more than 2.5 million people visited National Parks in Maine last year.
According to the National Park Service, visitors spent more than 220-million dollars during their visits to either Acadia National Park and Saint Croix Island International Historic Site.
It’s estimated the spending resulted in the creation of nearly 4,000 jobs. According to the report, for every dollar invested in Maine’s National Parks, the state gets a return of 10-dollars.
The bulk of spending for guests is on lodging, meals, and gas.
