PITTSFIELD – A local community will remember its civil war heroes this weekend, with the final portion of a year-long project.
The Town of Pittsfield will hold its Reflections Of The Civil War performance Sunday at 2 pm at the First Universalist Church.
The show is the final installment in a series of Civil War related events aimed at educating the community. The year-long project, titled Local and Legendary: Maine in the Civil War is a grant program.
The group organizing the events has worked hard to research Pittsfield’s involvement in the civil war, learning that more than 200 men from the community served and 24 were killed in battle.
“It sensitized the community to the role of the solider and what losses the community had and what losses these young men had and that war is still. Always seems to be prevalent in our country and impacting us in terrible ways.” Jane Woodruff, Co-Leader, Local and Legendary Team
The performance this Sunday is free and open to the public.
