HOLDEN – A group of high school students from the Tri-County Technical Center aimed to shoot for their dream jobs today.
All participants are hoping to work in law enforcement or the military, and today they practiced shooting at Maine Military Supply in Holden.
The most important lesson of the day? Safety.
“It teaches you to keep your hand off the trigger until you are on target or on whatever you need to shoot. It teaches you that guns are always loaded unless you can prove that they’re unloaded, you always want to unload your gun. To keep your finger off the trigger is a big thing, but again, where’s the muzzle, safety where the muzzle’s pointed.” Steven Spaulding, Criminal Justice Instructor
For many of the students, this was the first chance they have had to practice shooting.
The class also focuses on the law and emergency situations using hands-on techniques.
